This is my required data protection privacy statement.

I am an elected member of Vale of White Horse District Council.

Under the current data protection legislation I am required to give you information about how I will collect, use and store any personal data you give to me as your district councillor. I am registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office under ref number A1084999 for any personal data I hold in order to assist my constituents.

I am required to have a specific legal reason to have this data and in this case it is in your legitimate interests for me to look into the matter you have brought to my attention. In order to do this I may need to share the information with district council staff or other ward councillors. If your enquiry involves services provided by another agency e.g. Oxfordshire County Council, I may need to share your information with them in order to resolve your issue.

If you have given me any information about yourself or your family that falls under the special data category (this would include race, religion, ethnic origin, health or sexual orientation) and I require this to assist you, I will hold this information to protect your vital interests or those of your family.

You have rights under data protection and you can, at any time, ask me for a copy of all your personal data I hold. You can also ask me to correct anything if it is not up to date and you can ask me to delete you from my records.

I will automatically delete your details at the end of my current term as a district councillor, which is May 2019.

The regulator for data protection is the Information Commissioner’s Office where you can view my registration, ask questions and access more detailed information about the current data protection legislation.
